- ITEC Award in Core of Knowledge for Laser and Light Devices Class Q&A:
Q1: This course is primarily theoretical with no hands-on practice. How can I ensure I gain practical skills?
A1: While this course focuses on theoretical knowledge, its core objective is to build a strong foundation in laser, IPL, and LED technologies. A solid theoretical understanding is the cornerstone of safe and effective operation. The course covers the working principles of different laser wavelengths, skin tissue responses, and potential risks. This knowledge will help you make more informed decisions during practical application and effectively handle unexpected situations. A strong theoretical base will enable you to acquire practical skills more quickly and conduct more effective analysis and problem-solving when challenges arise. Furthermore, you can seek additional practical experience after completing the course, such as internships in beauty salons or clinics.
Q2: How will this course help me improve my ability to analyze the effects of different laser wavelengths on the skin?
A2: The course delves into the characteristics of different laser wavelengths and their effects on various skin types and conditions. You will learn how to analyze energy absorption, penetration depth, and potential side effects of different wavelengths. Through this learning, you will be able to more accurately determine which wavelength is most suitable for a specific client's skin condition and treatment goals, thereby developing more effective treatment plans and minimizing risks. Case studies and theoretical knowledge within the course will enhance your analytical skills, allowing you to more effectively assess treatment risks and expected outcomes.
Q3: If a client has questions or complaints about laser treatment, how can I use the knowledge gained from this course to communicate and explain effectively?
A3: The course emphasizes safety and compliance. You will learn about relevant regulations, safe operating procedures, and how to assess and manage risks. This knowledge will help you clearly explain the principles, procedures, potential risks, and expected results of laser treatment to clients. When faced with client questions or complaints, you can use this knowledge to explain things clearly and confidently, resolving issues effectively and building client trust. The risk assessment knowledge gained from the course will allow you to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks, thereby reducing the likelihood of client complaints.
Q4: How will this course help me understand the limitations and potential risks of different laser wavelengths?
A4: The course thoroughly explores the characteristics, mechanisms of action, and potential risks of different laser wavelengths, including side effects, contraindications, and safe operating procedures. You will learn how to identify and assess the limitations of different laser wavelengths on different skin types and develop appropriate treatment plans. This will help you avoid unnecessary risks and ensure client safety. The course emphasizes safe operation, enabling you to better understand and manage potential risks and make more informed decisions during practical application.

The history of iTEC-established in 1947 (Founders of iTEC and VTCT)
What is iTEC? The name iTEC, meaning International Therapist Examination Council, came into use in 1973.
The International Therapy Examination Council (iTEC) has been awarding high-quality and respected qualifications since 1947. It is a leading UK specialist examination board providing quality qualifications allowing people to practise professionally in the UK and countries throughout the world. ITEC currently has centres registered in countries in Africa, North America, South America, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
It is one of the world's leading and most successful awarding bodies specialising in Complementary Medicine and Sports & Fitness Training. During 2011-2012 ITEC conducted over 38,000 QF examinations worldwide.
ITEC is an official awarding body approved by the (Old Department: Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) (New Department: Qualificstions and Curriculum Deveolpment Agency - QCDA) and the (Department for Education and Employment - DFEE). It is a recognised awarding organisation regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (OFQUAL). As such all the ITEC (old System: QCF Qualifications and Credit Framework) / (new System: Regulated Qualifications Framework - RQF) and ( European Qualifications Framework - EQF) are approved on the Qualifications and Credits Framework / Regulated Qualifications Framework.
ITEC Diploma qualifications are highly regarded by prospective employers who know an ITEC qualification means excellence in both theoretical knowledge and practical ability, as well as a rigorous and independent examination process.
Our Courses follow the latest iTEC QCF (Qualifications and Credits Framework) syllabi which were introduced by the UK government in September 2009 and revised in September 2012.
This means that when the government establishes a national mandatory state regulator for Complementary Medicine your qualification will be automatically recognised. In addition, your qualification will be recognised so that you are able to work within the National Health Sector and your course can now count as credit towards a University Degree Course.
Successful completion of iTEC Courses enables you to join the current voluntary regulator set up by the Department of Health – the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council.
