The "Step Up Across Generations 2.0" Tram Party was organized by the Central & Western District Office and Youth Network, co-organized by YWCA, with LBEDU, PMU Factory Fashion Makeup Team and IQA serving as makeup instructors. Professional instructors taught practical makeup skills to youth participants, who then applied makeup for elderly aged 50 and above, bringing smiles and warmth to them. After completing their looks, participants boarded an iconic tram departing from Western District to relive precious memories of traveling across Hong Kong Island. Laughter filled the tram as elderly shared stories and youth listened with fascination. The event fostered intergenerational harmony – youth gained professional skills and satisfaction in serving others, while elderly felt respected, loved, and regained vitality. Participants all agreed the event was highly successful and hope for more similar activities to enable continuous exchange between generations and build a more harmonious community.

Event Background
The "Step Up & Bridge 2.0" Tram Party was organised by the Central & Western District Office and the Central & Western Youth Network, co‑organised by YWCA, with makeup instruction and guidance provided by LBEDU Luster Beauty International Education and Training Academy, PMU Factory Fashion Makeup Team, and IQA International Qualifications Assessment Alliance. Together, they created a warm and creative intergenerational event.
Professional Makeup Training
A team of professional instructors taught practical makeup techniques to young participants. All attendees reported significant improvement in their skills and greater confidence for their future development. The course covered everyday makeup and special‑occasion looks, allowing students to apply what they learned immediately.
Youth Makeup for Seniors – Spreading Care
The young participants applied makeup on‑site for seniors aged 50 and above. Every senior beamed with joy, appreciating the thoughtfulness and care brought by the younger generation. During the makeup process, the youth and seniors exchanged life stories and shared warm moments, creating a touching and heartwarming atmosphere.
Tram Party – Reliving Hong Kong Island Memories
After completing their looks, everyone boarded a special tram departing from the Western Market tram stop. Along the way, they took photos and checked in at iconic spots, revisiting cherished memories of travelling across Hong Kong Island in the old days. Laughter filled the tram as seniors excitedly shared their past stories, while the young listeners were captivated. It felt as if time had turned back, and the two generations were closely connected through the familiar "ding ding" sounds.
Outcomes and Outlook
The entire event was filled with the warmth of intergenerational harmony. The youth not only learned professional skills but also experienced the satisfaction of serving the elderly; the seniors felt respected and loved, regaining youthful vitality. Participants unanimously agreed that the event was a great success and expressed hope for more similar activities in the future, enabling ongoing exchange and mutual learning between generations – a beautiful handover of experience and creativity, building a more harmonious community.
