Terms & Conditions

General course terms, VTCT(iTEC) course terms, student code of conduct, attendance and grade requirements

General Course Terms & Conditions:

  • To register for a course, students must pay a deposit, which will be deducted from the total course fee. Upon confirmation of registration, the applicant is responsible for paying the balance of the total course fee.
  • If a student fails to attend the confirmed course or complete the course for any of the following reasons: personal problems, illness, change of mind, relocation, pregnancy, family illness or death, change in personal circumstances, failure to obtain a visa or loan, no fees or deposits will be refunded, no right to future courses will be granted, and the student will be responsible for paying any outstanding course fees.
  • Fees may be paid in full at the time of registration. Fees may also be paid by deposit and balance, which must be paid no later than 7 days before the course start date. Failure to do so will result in the loss of your place in the course.
  • Under no circumstances are all payments made refundable or transferable.
  • At the discretion of the Academy, course fees may be paid by instalments, subject to approval.
  • Students approved to pay course fees by instalment agree with the Academy to pay all fees by direct debit on predetermined dates. Late or non-payment may result in your withdrawal from the instalment plan, and you will be required to pay the remaining course fee within 10 working days.
  • A direct debit mandate must be established at least 10 working days before the course start date. Otherwise, we reserve the right to cancel the agreed instalment plan and require full payment of the course fee before the course start date.
  • If you do not pay course fees in accordance with the agreed payment terms, we reserve the right to withdraw any offer, cancel your accepted place, exclude you from any related assessments, examinations or reassessments, refrain from marking your assessments or reassessments, or refuse to provide assessment or reassessment results and materials for your course.
  • Unless otherwise stated (excluding laser courses), all students must purchase a kit and towel pack for practice purposes. Students must bring their own kit and towel pack on the day of training; failure to do so will result in the student being unable to attend class/practice/undergo assessment.
  • All students will be required to practice on other students, unless practical assessments require models, in which case it is the student's responsibility to bring them, as specified by the Academy.
  • Certain courses may require a sensitivity test at least 24/48 hours prior to the course date, especially for eye and laser treatments, as specified in the course information to ensure health and safety.
  • Any medical conditions or learning difficulties must be declared in writing by the student before course registration (e.g., email [email protected]), i.e., contraindications to treatment. In such cases, the student will need to bring their own model for practice.
  • As part of the Code of Practice, all students must behave well at all times (i.e., hair must be tied back neatly, no jewellery should be worn, all piercings should be removed for health and safety reasons, nails should be short and clean, and personal hygiene should be maintained).
  • All students must wear the correct uniform for each class. This includes a neat LBEDU tunic, black trousers, and black flat‑soled shoes. Students must treat peers and staff in a professional and respectful manner; failure to do so may result in removal from the course and liability for any outstanding fees.
  • If LBEDU has to cancel a course date due to circumstances beyond our control, we will attempt to give at least 24 hours' notice and reschedule to another date. If cancelled, we are not responsible for any travel or accommodation losses.
  • LBEDU reserves the right to change course dates and/or venues but will endeavour to give at least 48 hours' notice.
  • These conditions form the main part of the contract between the Academy and the student. Only the Managing Director of the Academy has the authority to alter or waive any terms and conditions.
  • Students must collect their certificates from the Academy within six months of the notification date; the Academy will not retain uncollected certificates after that period.
  • Special course terms for "Semi‑permanent Makeup and Tattooing related courses" – In view of industry concerns regarding the supply and use of anaesthetic creams, we have studied relevant overseas practices and the existing regulatory framework under Chapter 138. In jurisdictions with similar regulatory frameworks to Hong Kong, health authorities and relevant organisations issue guidelines to tattoo service providers reminding them not to supply local anaesthetics to customers; instead, customers should obtain local anaesthetics from registered doctors or registered pharmacies. In Hong Kong, the Department of Health issues press releases and documents (including leaflets on cosmetic procedures such as tattooing) and organises events to inform the public and the beauty industry about the risks and precautions of such procedures. The Academy does not provide any anaesthetic creams. Models or clients obtain anaesthetic creams from registered doctors or pharmacies and apply them themselves to the skin area to be treated (if any).

  • To ensure all courses remain up‑to‑date, LBEDU reserves the right to change course content and syllabi without prior notice, at the discretion of the Academy.

They are expected to fully support and encourage the Academy's objectives, maintain and promote the Academy's good reputation; continue the student's education at home in punctuality, manners, diligence, and dress. The signature of the parent or legal guardian agreeing to the registration terms is required on the enrolment form.

Student Code of Conduct:

  • Uniform dress code required: one tunic, black trousers, and black flat‑soled shoes.
  • Hair should be tied up above the collar in a bun and covered with a navy or white hairband; nails must be short and unvarnished; makeup must be worn during the day. Students may not wear any jewellery (including body jewellery) during class, except for a wedding ring and small ear studs (maximum ½ cm).
  • If changing rooms and lockers are provided for changing clothes and storing personal items, they must be kept clean and tidy at all times. Students are required to keep briefcases and handbags outside the classroom area. Mobile phones must be stored in lockers and switched off within the Academy.
  • Students are advised not to bring jewellery, valuables, or large sums of money into the Academy, as LBEDU is not responsible for their loss.
  • Students should act as models for practical classes. Any student unable to do so due to medical defects or physical frailty must notify LBEDU at the time of registration. LBEDU reserves the right to terminate the student's training if such information is not provided.
  • Students must attend all demonstrations and extracurricular activities.
  • Client days are an integral and compulsory part of the training provided – this includes (among other things) client liaison, sales, and housekeeping services.
  • Students are required to attend and be prepared for class. Late students will be marked absent on the register for that session. Students who are frequently late will not be allowed to attend sessions. Three late arrivals will result in disciplinary action.
  • Students who are absent are required to call/email the Academy before 10:00 a.m. Messages left with classmates will not be accepted. An absence form must be completed subsequently. Absence exceeding three days requires a medical certificate.
  • If a student leaves the Academy without prior permission, they will be considered absent for the morning or afternoon session.
  • Students are advised that punctuality, attendance record, neatness of work, personal statements, behaviour, and thorough knowledge of the subject will be considered when awarding LBEDU diplomas/certificates.
  • All students must complete the required number of study hours as prescribed by the Academy and the awarding body, and possess thorough theoretical and practical knowledge of the course materials, in order to be eligible to take the VTCT(iTEC) assessments and examinations.
  • LBEDU requires all students to pass the VTCT(iTEC) mock examination with a score of no less than 60% before taking the official VTCT(iTEC) examination.

Attendance and Grades:

  • For all courses, you must have at least 70% attendance to be taught in class for each subject/module. For examination‑based courses, you must have at least 70% attendance (if required) and 90% salon time (if required). Additionally, if you miss more than 100 hours in total for VTCT(iTEC) courses, you will not be registered for the examination.
  • As all courses are continuous, late arrival or absence will not be permitted unless prior consent has been obtained from the Principal and Managing Director, who also reserve the right to expel any student for justifiable reasons related to such conduct. Their decisions on all such matters will be considered final.
  • The Academy or individual teachers are not responsible for providing extra teaching time for students to "catch up" on education missed due to lateness or absence for any reason.
  • If a student fails the VTCT(iTEC) written theory examination, the first resit is free; subsequent resits will be charged at HKD 800 (covering both written and practical tests). HKQF resits are free of charge. This depends on the student having a valid reason for failing, and the Academy reserves the right to decide whether the reason is valid. The Academy will determine when the resit can be taken.
  • Students who fail to complete their assessments, changes, ranges, etc., during the course will be charged per hour for any further teaching/supervision/assessment. These sessions will be held at a time convenient to the Academy.
  • For assessment‑based courses, you may be required to attend during the next enrolment period to complete assignments and missed assessments, subject to additional fees and course availability.
  • For resits, a resit fee will be charged, and for any required refresher training, a fee will apply. Please check with the administration for current rates.
  • Classes will start at the announced time immediately, regardless of whether all students are present. Classes will not be delayed due to lateness, and teachers are not responsible for making up missed content. Latecomers may be asked to wait until an appropriate break before entering the classroom. The Principal and Managing Director may change class times at their discretion without prior notice.
  • The Academy will be closed on all Hong Kong public holidays. If your course falls on public holidays, no extra days will be added or fees reduced, as these days have already been accounted for in our teaching schedule.
  • Leave for official religious holidays, booked holidays, planned weddings, medical appointments, etc., must be discussed and agreed upon before application. We advise avoiding all absences as much as possible.

By submitting the enrolment application, the student acknowledges and agrees to abide by the above terms and conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Can I get a refund if I cannot continue the course for personal reasons?

No. All payments made are non‑refundable and non‑transferable under any circumstances, including personal problems, illness, relocation, etc. Please consider carefully before enrolling.

2. Can I pay course fees by instalments?

The Academy may, at its discretion, approve instalment payments, but a direct debit mandate must be set up at least 10 working days before the course start date. Late or non‑payment may result in your withdrawal from the instalment plan, and the balance will become due within 10 working days.

3. Can I retake the VTCT(iTEC) exam if I fail?

The first resit is free; subsequent resits are charged at HKD 800 (covering both written and practical tests). HKQF resits are free. The Academy will assess each case individually and arrange the resit date.

4. What is the attendance requirement for courses?

All courses require at least 70% attendance; examination‑based courses also require 90% salon practical hours. For VTCT(iTEC) courses, missing more than 100 hours in total will disqualify you from registering for the exam.

5. What is the dress code for classes?

You must wear a neat Academy tunic, black trousers, and black flat‑soled shoes. Hair must be tied up neatly, no jewellery (except a wedding ring and small ear studs) is allowed, and nails must be short and clean.

6. What happens if the Academy cancels a course?

If the Academy cancels a course due to circumstances beyond its control, we will try to give at least 24 hours' notice and reschedule. However, the Academy is not responsible for any travel or accommodation losses incurred by the student.
